Where it's used

For student records whose collection notice requires 390×480 pixels, a blue background, JPG, at least 150 DPI and a file smaller than 60k. Other schools may have different requirements.

Photography & composition

  • Use a recent, front-facing color portrait without a hat.
  • Center the person horizontally. Use a crown-to-chin height of about 2/3 of the photo as a guide. The notice gives no tolerance; review it manually.
  • Students who normally wear glasses should wear them in the photo.
  • Check for a clear portrait, natural expression and no obvious distortion. Review hair, glasses and shoulder edges after background removal.

File size constraint: Under 60,000 bytes.

Student school-record photo — frequently asked questions

Is making a Student school-record photo photo in IDPhotos free?

Yes — entirely free. IDPhotos runs in your browser with no watermark, no paywall, and no export caps.

Will my photo be uploaded to a server?

No. Background removal, cropping, recolouring, and compression all happen locally in your browser. The original photo never leaves your device.

What background colour does Student school-record photo require?

This preset uses blue #438EDB. In Photo requirements, you can change the color, dimensions, format, DPI and file-size limit, then apply your changes. Edited settings are labeled custom and no longer claim to meet the original notice. Confirm the settings with your school.

Are these specifications accurate?

This preset follows a user-supplied notice, not a nationwide standard. Export checks pixels, JPG format, DPI and final byte size. It cannot verify recency, glasses, expression or whether the school will accept the photo.

Can I make this on a phone?

Yes. IDPhotos works on mobile Safari and Chrome. The first cut-out downloads about 13 MB of model weights plus runtime files — connect to Wi-Fi the first time, then the whole pipeline runs in-browser.
